Drinking poison? Yes – you are!

Sugar Sweetened Beverages raise your Blood Pressure!!

Latest research supports the growing evidence that Sugar Sweetened Beverages (SSBs) – such as sodas, sports drinks, energy drinks, juice drinks, sweetened tea and coffee drinks – are linked to high blood pressure which is a major risk factor for heart disease.

Dr. Aaqib Malik, and his team, from Yale-Griffin Hospital in Connecticut reviewed 12 studies with a total of nearly 410,000 participants, showed a positive relationship between the intake of sugar-sweetened beverages (SSBs) and hypertension. According to them, drinking more than one can of a SSB per day increases the risk of high blood pressure in both normal and hypertensive people.

Therefore, limiting the consumption of SSBs can contribute significantly to preventing cardiovascular disease.
